You Can Lead a Horse to Water...but You Can't Drown 'Em

I remember the first time I heard that phrase and I remembering saying to myself, "Self, that doesn't make any sense."

And so it went every time that I heard a saying that was trying to teach the same thing.

"All the books you haven't read won't help you."

"Just nodding your head won't row the boat."

"If you're in class and just going through the motions, you might as well learn ballet."

"A hammer can't help you build the house if you never pick it up."

To make improvements in your martial arts skills (and your life), it's all about using the right tools. And if you don't have any tools, making sure you find the right ones and putting them to good use.

Here's an example. I was working with my Coach once and he had given me a list of task to do designed to help me grow in an area that I was paying him handsomely to help me with.

We got on a phone conference and after asking me a series of questions (to which I did not have the right answers to because I hadn't done what he asked) he told me...

"You show a lot of promise and potential in this business and some of the work you have done has been excellent...and at the pace you are going you are going to be really good in about 80 f@#$ing years."

Ouch.

He was right.

I was taking too long, not following the advice he had given (which had made him worth well into the seven figure range) and not used the tools he had given me to do the job.

What the blankety-blank was my problem.

In Secrets of the Shaolin Temple, available at http://www.shaolinsecrets.com, there are passages that teach about your spirit; your mental focus or intent when you do and learn anything.

When this is done right, then your performance in that area skyrockets. And if you don't know how to do it right, it can sabotage everything and even get you the opposite of what you want.
My Coach called me out on it and even though I'm still not where I want to be (and he wants me to be) I'm better now than I was then.

Is there an area where you aren't using the right tools. Are you in situations where you aren't using any tools at all and your just repeating what doesn't work, getting results that you don't want.

If so, may be it's time to find the right hammer, pick it up and start to build something you want.

Best,

William Huff

Nine-month old Helps Teach a Shaolin Secret

This past three days has been exciting - to say the least.

My wife's best friend is moving back to the States from Korea and on their way back to the East Coast they stayed with us for the weekend.

The two of them were best friends and roommates in college so they are very close. When she told me they were coming to stay, I was all for it.

Then she reminded me that they had a nine-month-old baby boy.

Oh.

I love kids; especially babies - so I thought it would be no big deal.

Well...this is the first second I have had to write, work, return a call or focus on anything - and that's with no less that four adults around at all times.

This baby is a wiggle worm, he's jet-lagged and he's surrounded by a bunch of adults that are first timers when it comes to babies so we are all acting like a bunch of freaks.

No wonder the Shaolin Monks isolate themselves and train at the Shaolin Temple.

It's very tough to "get your head in the game" with the way everything is now. The Internet, 24 hour news and sports; you can go almost anywhere in the world and still not be out of touch or unreachable.

And when you have family, it's really 24/7.

That's why in the Shaolin Secrets, available at http://www.shaolinsecrets.com, the Shaolin Temple teaches several ways to focus the mind, block out distractions and direct your energy on what it is you are trying to accomplish.

The Shaolin Monks knew that to get the most out of themselves and their training, they had to learn to "flip the switch" and be able to focus instantly on what it is they were trying to accomplish.

It's also why they went to the Temple and trained behind walls; they isolated themselves so they could focus on the tasks at hand.

Well...you and I probably aren't going to get building permits for walls to surround our houses so we can keep everyone away and get some work done, so get over to http://www.shaolinsecrets.com and get the Secrets of the Shaolin Temple.

That way you can start to learn how to "flip the focus switch", put up a "wall" in your mind - and get some work done.

Oops - gotta go. Junior has pinned one of the cats and is drooling all over him. I better go rescue him before someone gets hurt.

Best,

William Huff

P.S. - There will be a special announcement this week about the Secrets of the Shaolin Temple. Stay tuned - you won't want to miss it.

P.P.S. - In the meantime, get over to http://www.shaolinsecrets.com and get your own copy of Secrets of the Shaolin Temple Volume I & II. Before your wife's best friend comes over with the baby.

She Knocked the Snot Out of Man Twice Her Size

You never forget the first time you see a woman beat the hell out of a man.

Not really beat the hell out of him - but put a whoopin' on him using proper martial arts technique during class.

Last night I was working with a woman who really took it to her partner with one technique she was working on.

She's thirty-seven, five foot five and 105 lbs. soaking wet with her clothes on. She's in great physical shape; she's just small for her size.

She was paired off with a general contractor who weighs in at 205 lbs. and about six feet tall.

In the beginning she was going slowly, trying to master the movement and get her body moving like it was supposed to. Like most students, as she started running into difficulty, she started trying harder and harder - and making more and more mistakes.

Her partner, who is a really great guy, saw her frustration and started going easier on her.

Big mistake.

She could tell he had let up on her and got even madder; she felt like it was an insult to her and her ability.

She looked at me with that, "I'll show him" look and asked me for some guidance.

I could tell what was wrong; she was missing one critical principle that is covered in detail in the Shaolin Secrets Training Manuals - Body Movement Law.

I took her off to the side and showed her the Body Movement Law and how it would work with the technique se was learning. She got it right away and after a few passes at it, she wanted to go back with her partner.

I told her partner to get after her; don't cut her a break. If she can't make it work, then it's on her to develop the technique until she can.

He said okay and when it was time, he let her have it...

Except that she performed the Body Movement Law with the technique almost perfectly.

She deflected his attack, broke his balance, slammed an elbow into his bladder, smashed his groin with a palm strike and then tossed him on his rear end with a sweep.

She crushed him.

Her partner stayed down for a minute to get his stuff together. He had a smile on his face when he got up but he was hurting.

"Wow", he said, "When she was hitting me, it was like she was hitting me with every ounce of her bodyweight. That hurt like hell, and I couldn't have stopped her takedown if I wanted to. That was cool."

One principle from the Shaolin Secrets Training Manuals, available at http://www.shaolinsecrets.com, made all the difference in the world for that woman.

She didn't "magically" get ten times stronger; she just used a principle that the Shaolin Temple has been using for thousands of years to train the legendary Shaolin Monks of China.

If you want to learn how she flattened her 205 lb. opponent, plus many other principles and secrets that most masters won't teach you, get over to http://www.shaolinsecrets.com and get the Shaolin Secrets Training Manuals.

Best,

William Huff

P.S. - That woman left the training session on a cloud. She was full of confidence because she understood the science behind what it was she was learning and she knew she would be able to use it to defend herself if she needed to. Just another reason to pick up the Shaolin Secrets Training Manuals and start applying the principles and secrets to your martial arts training. http://www.shaolinsecrets.com.

Shaolin Road Warrior

Do you ever have to travel for work and by the time you land at the destination, you're already tired and worn out - and the work hasn't even started yet.

I'm going through that right now - but I used a secret weapon to blast away the sleepies and reenergize myself.

I just got in to Houston after getting up this morning at 0445 in the morning.

I forgot that this was the first week of spring break - I have never seen so many college kids up so early that didn't look half-hung over from the night before.

Since I stayed up late last night spending some quality time with the Mrs, and didn't get much sleep. On the plane, I was stuck in that spot when you are kind of sleeping, but your not.

You know, when the bad guy you're fighting in your dreams looks at you and says, "Please put your seat in an upright position and lock your tray tables" in a female's voice.

I get to Houston and the check into the hotel and I'm beat...and the work weekend hasn't even started yet.

I decided if I'm going to get some work done, be productive and feel good in the process, it's time to break out some deep breathing and energy exercises from the Shaolin Secrets, the ancient training manuals from the Shaolin Temple.

Once I got to my room, I set everything down and for about three minutes, I practiced the deep breathing exercises and movements in Secrets of the Shaolin Temple Volume I.

Almost instantly, I could feel my body start to warm up and energy build. By the time I was done, I had so much energy flowing that my hands were tingling and I felt warm all over.

My mind was crystal-clear and I was ready to get after it. I feel like a million bucks.

If you are a road warrior and travel all the time, or if you find yourself needing a pick-me-up at 2:00 pm every day after lunch when the "afternoon sleepies" grab you, get over to http://www.shaolinsecrets.com and the Shaolin Secrets: Secret of the Shaolin Temple Volume I.

Then you'll be a true Shaolin Road Warrior.

Best,

William Huff

So Sore I can Hardly Move

This morning I am so sore I can hardly move.

My chest and stomach are a maize of bruises. There's a lump on my noggin that resembles a golf ball and my hamstrings are so tight you could strum a tune on them.

And I love it.

Yesterday was one of the toughest and most fun martial arts workout I've had in seventeen years. Twenty-five talented martial artists got together and we just wore each other out.

Drills upon drills. Footwork, movement, targeting drills...all with full contact. The only rule was be as safe as you can.

I can't count how many times I had the wind knocked out of me or got blasted in the face. I do remember one drill where a principle taught in the Shaolin Secrets, available at http://www.shaolinsecrets.com save my bacon.

We did a drill where I was in the front of a line of four guys and one after the other - without a pause or break - each one had to step up and attempt to stab me in the heart - as hard and as fast as they could.

Things were flying fast and furious; we had already been working out for four hours at this point and I'd had the stuffin' knocked out of me so many times that my memory wasn't working too well.

When the drill started, I flashed back to one of the principles taught in the Shaolin Secrets. When the attacks started, I easily snuffed each attack, flowing from one technique to the next as each attacker tried to take my head off.

The cool thing was that I wasn't doing techniques - I couldn't even tell you which ones I did. I just used the principles from the Shaolin Secrets and let whatever strikes and counters that were there come out.

I would not have been able to do that if I didn't understand the principles that are taught in the Shaolin Secrets. I would have been stuck trying to remember ten or fifteen different ways to defend myself, all in the middle of four guys trying to whack me while I was running out of gas.

Not good.

The next time you find yourself in a six-hour workout with a bunch of guys trying to knock the snot out of you, you don't want to be trying to remember a bunch of techniques.

Get over to http://www.shaolinsecrets.com and get your copy of the Shaolin Secrets today and get working on those principles.

Best,

William Huff
